TEACHING STYLE: I teach a variety of styles - Hatha, Vinyasa, Power Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Gentle Yoga, Prenatal + Postpartum Yoga. No matter which style I am stepping into, the emphasis in my classes is on alignment, accessibility, personal power and connecting with self.

DAILY RITUAL: I wish this was some big amazing routine, but the yoga of parenthood has taught me that sometimes the simplest moments are the most impactful. So, the simple and true answer is... After I get my kids off to school, I sit in my favorite chair near the window with a cup of coffee and breathe with awareness. I’ve found that giving my mind time to settle before racing into my to do list helps me function in a more grounded way.

FIRST YOGA EXPERIENCE: Alexa was introduced to yoga in 2001 after a hospitalization from a rare blood disorder. Through the practice of yoga, Alexa began a journey of relearning herself physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Rose Haven is a day shelter and community center serving women, children and gender non-conforming folks experiencing the trauma of abuse, loss of home and other disruptive life challenges.
We break the cycle of homelessness by providing meals, clothing, first aid, mailing addresses, hygiene, restrooms, showers as well as educational programs and guidance through medical and social services. By meeting basic needs and building trust, we empower our guests to explore long-term change.

We at Kasa karma are now putting out our own bin in the studio lobby with updated “need” list and hope if you can, you can help us fill it for them often. Also we have an online resource that enables you to donate through a partnership with them and they receive 100% of the profits. By clicking donate, your donation goes directly to them. We just want to help spread the word.

We were both dancers growing up, and it was both exciting and intimidating to explore my body in this new way. I had no idea what any of the poses they called out meant or what chaturanga was, but it left me with a hunger to learn and grow more in this practice and I am so glad I did.

FIRST YOGA EXPERIENCE: My first ever yoga class was my freshman year of college, and I didn't really enjoy it much. I had never thought of myself as flexible and found many postures difficult, plus I often fell asleep in savasana and it was really embarrassing to be prodded awake by my friends or the teacher! I rediscovered yoga many years later with a 30 day challenge from Yoga with Adriene. Doing yoga at home gave me more confidence to try, fail, and try some more, and eventually discover the benefits of consistency as I was slowly able to do more physically and relax more mentally. Now I love yoga and am excited to share it with others!
